S.MARA DEGLI ANGELI BASILICA
We are currently completing the restoration of the great organ of the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi. Built by the undersigned organ builder in 1961 as work no. 802, it consists of 72 registers on 5 sound bodies arranged in the apse, behind and above the wooden choir, and the body of the expressive Echo organ is positioned in the drum of the dome.
The console on a movable platform, located on the apse floor, is equipped with four 61-note keyboards and a 32-note radial concave pedalboard.
The instrument employs electric drives, domes with internal diaphragms and pneumatic relays controlled by 'pad' electromagnets; a new electronic control unit was installed during the intervention to manage the adjustable combinations.
This important instrument returns to its full phonic potential at the end of the demanding restoration work on the great dome of the Basilica.
