CASLE LITTA (VA)
EUGENIO MARONI BIROLDI 1851

We begin a challenging restoration project: the antique organ built in 1851 by Eugenio Maroni Biroldi of Varese for the parish church of Casale Litta. Unfortunately, over time the instrument has undergone various interventions that have little respect for the artefact and improper repairs that have brought it to its present poor condition.
From stylistic analysis, it is possible to assume that the current console was inserted after World War II; the shoulders, keyboard and pedalboard are in fact from that era. The extension of the keyboard, which was already 58 notes like the pallets of the main soundboard, correspond to the original situation while the pedalboard has been increased from the original 18 pedals (C1-Mi2 plus an accessory) to the current 24 pedals.
About the keyboard, the original key cheeks were recovered and will be reinserted into the reconstructed keyboard. The pipes are substantially homogeneous and original by Eugenio Maroni Biroldi except for the replaced or modified registers: Bassoon Basses and Trumpet Sopranos replaced with Dolce 8', Violoncello and English Horn replaced with a Viola 8', Trombones replaced with Violone and Timbals modified to Bass 8' at Pedal. Removed reeds and registers will be reconstructed in original style during restoration at our workshop.
