INCISA VALDARNO (FI)
SS.COSMA AND DAMIAN

Restoration of an ancient Tuscan jewel located in the Church of Saints Cosma and Damiano in Incisa Valdarno (FI).
The organ, originally made by Lorenzo Testa in 1706, was later rebuilt by Giacobbe Maria Paoli of Campi Bisenzio in 1832, as indicated on an original cartouche in the dungeon of the somiere.
Giacobbe Maria Paoli built a larger instrument than Testa's by integrating the existing phonic material a Fluto Traverso, a Nazardo and two reeds: Trumpets, Clarone and English Horn.
The reinstallation of Lorenzo Testa's canes was conducted largely respecting the succession of the individual bodies within the registers, although there were some migrations between the various rows. Some of these shifts were not due to Paoli but to subsequent maintenance and restoration work in the years following the construction where the position of some elements was not respected.
The current keyboard extension of the Paoli organ is 54 keys, from C1 to F5, with a short first octave, while Testa's was 50 keys, from C1 to C5, again with a short first octave.
The instrument has been fully restored in our workshop with careful work on the master case and the antique reeds, both of which were severely damaged by woodworm and tin cancer.
The case and chancel are a wonderful work of art from the late Baroque period, which were also restored.
We close 2024 with the end of work on this fine organ wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year full of Good Music.
