ABBEY OF S.GEMOLO

The restoration of the organ, located in the ancient Badia di San Gemolo in Ganna (VA), built by Vincenzo Mascioni in 1940 as work 552 and placed in the apse behind the high altar, has just been completed.

The semi-recessed console at the centre of the instrument's plinth consists of two 58-note keyboards and a 30-note concave-radial pedalboard; above the second keyboard are the controls with the 9 registers, unisons and couplings.
The instrument, more than eighty years after its construction, had never undergone any major restoration work; however, despite its originality and excellent build quality, the wear and tear of time made a general restoration indispensable to bring it back to its original transmissive efficiency and sonorous beauty.
